Losing Motivation

The hardest thing, for me, is to stay motivated.  This is not just a health thing.  In fact, my house is filled with things I was once gung-ho about and have lost interest in: guitar, tennis racket, Japanese dictionaries, etc.

When it comes to health, it especially hard to stay motivated when you don't see any positive change.  Like when you step on the scale and it doesn't move, or even worse, moves up instead of down.  Or when you put on a pair of pants and they are a little tighter than they were last week.

I started last July with a short-term goal of losing 40 pounds by my 40th birthday.  My birthday came & went and I am still about one pound away from losing that 40.  It's driving me crazy.  I have tweaked my eating, exercise and even water intake.  I have limited sugars, sodium and fats.  I have done everything that I know how to do but this last pound won't budge.

And that is where I am today.  I am losing motivation fast because my mind keeps asking, "Why are you busting your hump when you don't seem to be going anywhere?"

I hope to come out of this soon.

  1. So what are you going to try next? It is terribly frustrating... but I hope that you don't lose faith completely. How can we help?

  2. I hope you come out of it too. I struggle with the motivation also because I've been watching my scale do the same thing and its frustrating. I have to remind myself that no matter what the scale says, I feel better when I work out and eat right, not just physically, but mentally. This is a lifestyle change for the better.
