The Elusive 220's

On July 25, 2011, I made the decision to make a change in my life and to lose 40 pounds before my 40th birthday in February.  At the time I was at 270 pounds, so the minus forty would've taken me to 230.  I worked my tail off for nearly 7 months and lost 39.2 pounds and weighed 230.8 pounds on my birthday.

I admit, I was a little discouraged that I didn't reach the 40 goal, even though it was so close.  I tried everything to drop under that but my weight wouldn't budge.

I hate to say it, but due to life, I put on a few pounds since then.

Which brings us to January 1st of this year.

I started out at 242.6 pounds and my goal was to lose 52 pounds (a pound a week) in 2013.  The first few days the pounds melted off and I thought that this was going to be easy.

Once again, life hit me - school, work, sickness - and I fluctuated in weight every day getting near the 230 mark again.

Finally, on Valentine's Day, I weighed in at 230.6.  That's the lowest I had been in probably 18 years.  I was finally going to go under 230, never to see it again.

And then...

2/15 - 231.0
2/16 - 232.2
2/17 - 233.2
2/18 - 232.6
2/19 - 233.2
2/20 - 232.8
2/21 - 232.2

So a week after my lowest point in years, I still have 2.2 pounds to lose to even get to the original 40 I wanted to lose.

Granted, my sickness has kept me from doing any major cardio the past few weeks, but it's quite depressing that I can't get into the 220's and say goodbye to 230 forever.

I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself.  After all, it's taken me years to put it on.  Why should I think that it will only take a month or two to take it off?

So 230's, keep your bags packed.  You are going away soon.
