A few days ago, I posted that I have not been able to get under 230 since I began losing weight. I usually hover around 231 and 235, but I can't get my body to jump below 230.
When I weighed myself this morning, it was the closest I have come: 230.2.
While that was quite discouraging to see that, yet again, I am not under 230, I did celebrate a bit. After all, I haven't weighed this weight in about 18 years.
I say "about 18 years" because I really don't know when the last time I weighed less than 230.
This is what I do know. When I was married in 1994, I weighed around 200 pounds. That same year, I started my career in radio, which has been a career of little sleep, odd hours, donuts, fast food, Dr. Pepper, donuts, vending machine food, All-You-Can-Eat pizza and donuts.
Meanwhile, little - if any - exercise took place and I packed the pounds until I reached my highest weight of 291. (Highest weight that I know of. I may have weighed more than that at one time, but wasn't in the habit of weighing myself back then.)
So here I sit, many years later, celebrating 230.2 pounds! It's funny because most people would hate being 230 pounds, but for me, it means I have lost close to 40 pounds. (I don't count when I was 291. My current goal is set from 270, which is what I weighed July 25, 2011 when I started getting serious about this.)
I'm guessing by the end of the week, I will break the 230 barrier, and I will have another celebration for that as well.
For now, I am going to be grateful the current accomplishment and celebrate by buying a piece of exercise equipment.
